Limba engleza foloseste literele alfabetului latin, dar in unele cazuri acestea au alte valori si se reprezinta cu ajutorul fonemelor.
De regula se accentueaza partile principale de vorbire si nu cele ajutatoare.
Prima silaba accentuata in propozitiile enuntiative se pronunta pe un ton mai inalt, acesta coborand treptat spre ultima silaba neaccentuata.
